Under the name of 'De Nieuwe Universiteit' [the new university], they demand: 1. Democratic election of the university board 2. Change of the allocation model: finance based on input, not on efficiency 3. Cancellation of the current Profiel 2016 4. Referendums per institute and programme about collaboration between the UvA and the VU at the FNWI (Faculty of Science) 5. Fixed contracts instead of flexible staff appointments 6. An open debate about housing costs in relation to budget cuts of reseach and education. In connection to this: retaining the Bungehuis as UvA-location The general motivation behind all these demands is discontent with the current ways of management. Top down, efficiency-oriented management damages the very thing a university should revolve around: research and education. Although the court ordered today that the people inside the building are unlawfully there, the occupieers are not planning on leaving the building before their demands are met. As a consequence, police-eviction is assumed to take place this night. After the austerity measures we are now letting in the Trojan horse with the TTIP agreements. This free trade agreement attacks our health, our environment, our democracy and our way of live. The aim of this agreement: the triumph of the financial powers and the multinationals over our liberties and our democracy. The resistance against this agreement is growing. Therefor we are organanising different actions against the discussion of this agreement. On the 15th and 16th of oktober there will be different actions to prevent the EU to discuss this treaty. On the 17th there will be an international manifestation. To make sure everyone can participate in these events we are organizing an international camp from the 14th till the 18th of oktober. We want to inform, mobilise and share our ideas on how to oppose to this treaty. We will discuss and organize the different actions taking place ont the 15th and the 16th. No Prison – No State! Anti-Authoritarian days against the prison society (hamburg)

Whilst we are working, consuming, functioning… they hold the cage we`re living in! Life under democratic regimes are dominated by a continuous process of adaption to the problems and developments of the system. The state permanently reflects and improves itself, trying to keep up a civic discourse through offering so-called alternatives and reforms. This is supposed to destroy the basis for unrest and resistance and to many it legitimates strong repressive answers to such rebellious behavior. This phenomenon can be found in almost every aspect of modern life. The illusion of participation is one of their strongest weapons, and together with the ongoing expansion of so called rights, democracy is developing towards a system, in which the ruled are actively participating in their own oppression. But their maintenance of this so called social peace doesn’t happen without any disruption and errors. In many places, the social inequality reaches a point, at which it doesn’t maintain, but starts to threaten the stability of power. In these places, more and more people start to leave their prescribed roles and rebel. Furthermore, Europe is facing a constant stampede towards its borders (including its financial and social systems) by people from those countries, in which inequality has already crossed the peak of functionality. These unwanted ones of democracy are creating dynamics to which the state has to react, if it doesn’t want to see its existence under threat. But these developments do not come out of nowhere – they have been expected by those in power, these dynamics are known through studies and analysis for a long time. Counter-programs and processes are running and the states, including their structures and apparatuses of control, are in a state of restructuring again. Everything has to become faster, more effective, more cheap. So does the apparatus of repression, which is supposed to defend the current order, defend the state and attack rebels, unwanted, unneeded and the states enemies. Besides the expanding networking and armament of the apparatuses of repression, there is a need for social assimilation as well, for to avoid the development towards a field of conflict and a target of the hatred of the oppressed. A society, that finds the ever expanding repression legitimate and actively takes part in its development won’t rise up. This ever increasing praxis of often violent appeasement is not unknown - especially to those, who have been incarcerated in the prisons during the 1980s and 90s, when there were riots, insurrections and hungerstrikes going on all over the European continent, creating cracks in the destroying force of prisons daily grind, it must be pretty familiar. The methods which were used to crush these tensions – on one hand, repression and violence and on the other hand, intensified improvement of the illusion of actively participating and having influence on their own oppression – can nowadays be found on both sides of hthe walls. The prison, as the states most frightening weapon of repression against those, who are either not willing or able to comply with its rules, is actually everywhere, it became much more then just s grey wall which we`re supposed to fear, it became a concrete reality in everyone’s lives – the prison is just the states maximized version of the same confinement we have to get used to since we were born. If we want subversion, the overthrowal of the system and the end of all oppression and authority, for the realization of a life in freedom, we have to rebel! If we want a social revolt, that doesn’t just pave the way for another authoritarian reality, then we have to recognize social conflicts, we have to analyze them and create them ourselves. Through permanent intervention, conflict and reflection of the existent, we can provoke cracks in the normality of the system. Our goal should be to destroy this prison society, starting from what could grow in the spaces permanent attack could open. In most parts of Europe, subversion seems to be asleep. Let`s wake it up, armed with our ideas and passions for freedom and put an end to the misery. If it be prisons, camps or borders, the states institutions, banks, the economy, the cops or the military – lets face the system and its defendants – just as we have to destroy all the authoritarian bullshit in our heads, the rules and norms created by the existent, for getting closer to our freedom. We want to come together on this weekend for discussing ideas and struggles for social revolts against the prison society and its world. We want to talk about whats up and what is to come, get to know each other for finding out if we share perspectives and find ways of struggling together. 08th-11th October 2015 in Hamburg Preview to the program: Thursday, 8th October, 19:30, Centro Sociale Our passion for freedom is stronger then any prison! Actie! Bescherm het Recht op Stad! Recht op sociaal (woon) beleid De stad is van iedereen, dus ook van de armen en de vluchtelingen. Het stadsbestuur dient pal te staan voor de grootst mogelijke mix waardoor niet alleen mensen of organisaties met geld, maar iedereen een kans maakt zich te vestigen op een plek naar keuze. De binnenstad is een essentieel onderdeel in de leefbaarheid van de stad en moet dus ook behouden blijven voor goedkope huur van woningen & winkels. Recht op samenleven Een grote stad bestaat uit haar buurten. Dit moeten buurten zijn die gemaakt worden door haar inwoners, buurten waar de groentenboer, de bakker en de plaatselijke kleermaker een plek heeft. Amsterdam is geen merk, maar een stad waar mensen samenwonen. Recht op kennis & onderwijs De stad is een hub van kennisvergaring en -verspreiding. De stad dient pal te staan voor haar studenten en de Universiteiten op haar rol te wijzen: dus focus op kwaliteit van het onderwijs en afbouwen vastgoedspeculatie! Minder macht voor het management en meer macht naar docent en student! Recht op autonomie De stad is duizend dorpen. De stad is niets zonder haar bewoners. De stad leeft! Het bloeit niet door het aan te harken en in te kapselen, maar door het te laten rafelen en te bloeien! De stad dient in te zetten op schaalverkleining en de autonome bewoners en buurtorganisaties te ondersteunen in de zorg voor hun buurt. Daarmee krijgt men snellere en directere resultaten dan verordeningen en criminalisering ooit voor elkaar zal krijgen. De stad blijft vitaal als het de ruimte geeft om te experimenteren en op de bek te gaan. En iedereen de kans krijgt weer opnieuw te beginnen. Recht op cultuur De stad dankt haar aantrekkelijkheid aan een levendige kunsten- en uitgaanscircuit. Het Amsterdamse Broedplaatsenbeleid is 20 jaar geleden ontstaan vanuit dat besef. Nu wordt er nietsontziend bezuinigd op de stedelijke cultuur, in navolging van landelijk beleid. Dit trekt diepe sporen en het ergste moet nog komen. Maar waarom? Zoveel geld kost het steunen van cultuur namelijk niet. Het bouwen van cultuurpaleizen echter wel, zoals het Groninger Forum en het Cultuurcluster in Zaandam. En ook financieel wanbeleid, zoals bij de MuzyQ en het MC Theater. Wij weten: écht investeren in cultuur is een bewuste keuze! Wij roepen de stad op: maak weer die keuze! Zeg ‘Ja!’ tegen cultuur! Recht op demonstratie & verzet Recht op demonstratie: juist de stad is een plek waar men zonder angst op repressie voor eigen idealen moet kunnen opkomen. Bestuurders en ordehandhavers mogen actiemiddelen als bezettingen en kraken niet criminaliseren. Men zal moeten leren begrijpen dat verzet – bij ontruimingen van kraakpanden, charges op demonstraties en hardhandig arresteren – een natuurlijk recht is. Recht op een rechtvaardig Amsterdam Kortom: Recht op Stad = Recht op een rechtvaardige stad, met oog voor cultuur, activisme, diversiteit en gelijke kansen!

Skouries is the name of a open-pit and underground gold-mining project in the peninsula of Halkidiki, Greece. The exploiter of the mine, Hellas Gold, (owned for 95% by Eldorado Gold, a Canadian mining company who acquired the mine in 2011) is now at the stage of development, and the mine is due to open in 2016. Due to its destructive nature, residents of the area have been showing resistance to the project since its plans were announced in 2006, but have not succeeded in stopping the project.

While the mining company and the Greek government argue that foreign investment in Greece's weak economy is very much needed and the project will create jobs for local people, the opposition obviously seems less convinced. According to the Coordinating Committee of Associations of Stageira-Akanthos Against Gold Mining (also referred to as Soshalkidiki), “Eldorado Gold [is] […] backed by the Greek Government and central European Union policies, and fueled by the complex economic politics of the current Euro crisis, creating a profitable “golden monopoly” for itself.” Soshalkidiki has released a comprehensive rapport summarizing the social, economic and environmental impacts of gold mining in Halkidiki and argues that the mining operation will destroy forests in the area, contaminate groundwater and pollute the air with chemical substances like lead, mercury and arsenic.

Skouries and the Greek crisis

While resistance against the Skouries goldmine does not necessary directly follow from the economic crisis in Greece, indirectly these subjects cannot be seen separate from each other. On one hand they are inseparable since the project relies on the crisis in order to realize itself. According to MiningWatch Canada, “Eldorado has [..] taken advantage of the economic crisis to put increasing pressure on Greek authorities, as evidenced by the 'fast track' designation granted under 'austerity' policies to allow the company to get its permits without meaningful public participation.” Also, the company has relied on police violence and state support in order to push its project through.

One the other hand, the struggle at Skouries can be seen as representative of the struggle against neoliberalist imperialism and corruption that most people face on a daily basis in contemporary Greek society. A struggle Sagris in Athenian context describes as: “We fight to survive, to maintain our dignity, humanity, and critical thinking from one day to the next; we fight off the businessmen, politicians, armies, and kings of this world as they attempt to steal our future and turn it into coins (2010:363).” Similarly, with regards to Skouries, Soshalkidiki has stated: “Our struggle is a common one [..] We need [..] to build a community of responsiveness, [...] acting in the awareness that all cases have a common denominator – the destructive nature of our definition of development.”

Future

The European Court has taken the Greek State to court in 2009, who were suspected to have provided illegal State aid in their 2003 transaction of the mining assets to Hellas Gold. On 23 February 2011, they were found guilty. Although the court ruled that the mining company should pay 15,34 million Euro to the Greek state, both Hellas Gold and the Greek Government are refusing follow this order. Meanwhile, the residents of Halkidiki continue to struggle and fight against the goldmine and the corrupted State supporting the project. “We are not merely demonstrating for our rights but for life itself, for our own and our children’s future. We stand in solidarity to everyone who fights for life, equality, freedom, and dignity. The criminalization and repression of the struggles of social movements who support basic freedoms is the only reaction left to a panicky system of power. It is our duty to raise our voice and protect those who resist the arbitrariness of power. We believe that united we have the power.”

In het weekend van 24 en 25 november zal het pinknoise mediacollectief live uitzenden vanaf 2Dh5, de jaarlijkse 'samenscholing van activisten en wereldversleutelaars' die dit jaar in amsterdam gehouden zal worden. De uitzending zal te volgen zijn via Pink noise. De uitzending zal bestaan uit live registraties van workshops en presentaties en verslagen van presentaties en discussies die niet live uitgezonden kunnen worden. Leuk detail is dat de uitzending zelf ook een doorlopende workshop zal zijn, waarbij iedereen informatie kan krijgen over de technische en praktische kanten van pinknoise, en kan meehelpen met alle aspecten van de uitzending, waaronder het maken van verslagen en items die dan gelijk uitgezonden kunnen worden. Het uitzendschema zal nog op de website gepubliceerd worden.

Op woensdag 12 september verzorgt Pink Noise Radio een live uitzending om de verkiezingen heen. Vanaf 11 uur zijn er, behalve leuke muziek, ook verschillende lezingen te beluisteren, die tijdens de Nacht van de Onverkiezing zijn opgenomen.

Ook zullen we aanwezig zijn tijdens de stemkaart ruilactie van Ontstemd in de ACU.

M31, European day of action against capitalism

31 maart gaan in Europa duizenden mensen de straten op om hun onvrede over het kapitalisme te uiten. In Europa is er sprake van een enorme economische crisis. De Europese Unie heeft een aantal noodmaatregelen bedacht om het kapitalisme te redden. Als deze maatregelen falen, zo stellen regeringen en de media, zal ook in Nederland een ineenstorting volgen met recessie en massale armoede tot gevolg.

Op deze manier wordt bij mensen angst aangejaagd en worden bevolkingsgroepen tegen elkaar uitgespeeld. Dit maakt de weg vrij om verder te bezuinigen, privatiseren en reorganiseren. Na het openbaar vervoer, energie, telefonie en post is nu de zorg aan de beurt. De gevolgen hiervan zijn massale ontslagen en verdere flexibilisering van arbeid, waardoor het steeds lastiger wordt om tegenover vaste lasten een vast inkomen te zetten.

Geen zorg om zorg dus, enkel zorg om financieel gewin. Hier moeten we ons tegen verzetten.

Laten we de strijd aan gaan tegen het kapitalisme en ons organiseren op Europees niveau. De dag van internationale actie tegen het kapitalisme op 31 maart 2012 kan een eerste stap zijn.

Tijdens de demonstratie is het de bedoeling dat we ons verzet tegen de bezuinigingen laten horen en onze internationale solidariteit laten zien. Zo willen we laten zien dat alle slachtoffers van de crisis aan dezelfde kant staan, zowel in Nederland als in Griekenland; dat verzet tegen bazen, bankiers en politici waardevol en productief is. Evenals bij de vele demonstraties op deze dag in andere Europese steden, kunnen alle mensen zich bij deze protestmars aansluiten.

We willen af van het kapitalisme en haar politieke instanties.
Laten we samen werken voor een sociaal en vrij alternatief!
